Transcription – Embarrassed About Bankruptcy?:
Hi, I’m Robert Geller. I am a consumer bankruptcy attorney in the Tampa Bay area. I want to talk to you about whether you have to go to court when you file for bankruptcy. People are nervous about going to the courthouse and being embarrassed when they file. The good news is you don’t need to appear in person. Right now, we’re filing cases and handling everything virtually.
This means clients can now hire a law firm from the comfort of their living room. We file their cases electronically and they don’t even actually have to go down to a courthouse. Now you have a “court appearance” by telephone. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes and you’re done. Nobody knows who you are and nobody sees you.
But even without the convenience of filing for bankruptcy from home, nobody should be embarrassed by filing a bankruptcy. As someone once told me, bankruptcy is for good people who have suffered hard times – like the current events now. A lot of people are dealing with financial challenges right now through no fault of their own.
Bankruptcy is there for a reason and it’s in the constitution. Nobody should be embarrassed. Needing to use bankruptcy could happen to you. It could happen to your neighbor. It could happen to your friend. All in all, most people are good people and deserve a second chance at a financial fresh start.
I’m attorney Robert Geller, and I want to help you build a bridge to a brighter future. Thank you.
